Why Soy Wax?

Soy wax has numerous health and environmental benefits. It is also produced domestically from many Midwest farms. Some of the benefits include:

  • It is a natural wax option, unlike paraffin wax that may contain toxins
  • Contains no petrol-soot that will blacken walls or ceilings
  • Has a longer lasting burn
  • Derived from a renewable resource (soy beans)
  • Biodegradable and easy to clean-up with soap and water
  • Drives business for local farmers

What is the body butter shelf life?

Since there is no water in our body butter formulas there is little room for bacteria growth. The approximate expiry date is 1-2 years from opening. 

My body butter arrived melted and “half empty”

All of our body butters and scrubs are made with soft butters (like Shea, Mango, Avocado butter etc.) that are melted and then whipped to achieve the fluffy and soft consistency. Unfortunately if you live in a warmer climate there is a chance your body butter may arrive to you melted. The skin benefits are still there and the body butter is still usable. If it is liquid please place the body butter in the fridge for it to get hard.

We offer “Thermal Shipping” which includes thermal bubble wrap to help prevent this from happening. It is not guaranteed but it can help preserve the consistency a little longer.

 

What is the body scrub shelf life?

Although the body scrub doesn’t not contain water, it will be in contact with water. There is a natural preservative mixed which can preserve the body scrub for 6-8 months. The best thing you can do is not let water in the jar, this will keep it fresh longer. We recomend using a dry spoon to scoop scrub out, therefor limiting the exposure of water, that can cause bacteria growth.

 

What happens if I received damaged goods?

If you receive damaged items, email hello@luzapothecary.com photos of the damaged product within 24 hours of receiving the order. Since the damage will have occurred during shipping, which is not the senders responsibility, you will be eligible for a replacement product at no additional cost, except you will need to pay the shipping fee.

 

When will my order ship?

Luz Apothecary strives to ship orders next day, however, please allow 3-7 business days for your order to be processed and shipped. This excludes weekends & holidays.

How long should I burn my candle?

When you receive your new candle from Luz Apothecary, let it burn long enough to allow the melted wax on the surface to reach the edge of the jar. This may take 2-4 hours depending on the size of your candle. After your first burn, we recommend burning your candle for no longer than 4 hours at a time for maximum quality and longevity.

 

How do I clean my jar?

Natural ingredients make our candles super easy to clean up! Warm water and soap is all you need! Fill bowl with hot water, let jar sit in hot war and soap mix. Once wax softens up scoop it out with a spoon! Toss the wax away and wash your jar with soap and warm water… Waaallaa new jar to be re purposed! 

 

What happens if my tracking number stops updating and my package is never delivered?

Once your order has been passed off to USPS or FedEx, we unfortunately do not have control of the package's transit. Should your order get lost during transit, please contact the carrier shipping it and file a claim for YOU to be reimbursed the insured value.

 

Can I return one of the candles I had ordered?

We do not currently accept returns. While we know that you can't exactly smell the candles before ordering online, we do our best to describe our scents as accurately as possible. Please consider gifting to a friend instead!
  

Can I cancel my order?

We can only cancel orders if they haven't been fulfilled yet. Once we have fulfilled your order (even if you've yet to receive a shipping confirmation), we are unable to cancel.
